About Me

I am Murat Karabag, a trained sociologist and political scientist who is forced to become a “coder” at 40.

An old timer, I have been doing stuff with HTML+CSS+JS trio and Python for around two decades, but did not go past these much. Like many, I know how to use Excel – pivot tables and formulas and such, but more or less this was it. Then I decided to learn Flutter, hence Dart, for it is one of the two major cross-platform frameworks, and then added objective-C (Swift) to that. Now I build most of the stuff using these two – Swift, when I need native solutions, and Flutter when the app is to be used by my wife and/or parents.

I’m more into designing the correct architecture and using the correct tools. Once “grammar and sentence structure” are solved, rest comes down to “vocabulary” and Claude (and ChatGPT) have helped me greatly. I still cannot just sit and write, I rely on the tools more than I desire for the time being, but this will end up to be another phase in history than being part of the present – sooner or later.

I doubt anyone wants to know me personally, and I would not care either. If so needed, very briefly: Am the child of my parents, sibling of my brother, and husband of my wife. These matter more than anything else. I support Fenerbahçe, I cannot use my academic training in real life due to foreseen but unavoidable circumstances, and I try to write stories to remain sane. This covers 99% of who and what I am.
